Ocean Farm Use Cunningham Water Treatment Tarpaulins in Fish Treatment Process

Ocean Farm in Killybegs, Co. Donegal is an organic salmon farming facility and a sister company of the Gallagher Bros. LTD Fish Merchants.

Ocean Farm has been using the Cunningham Water Treatment Tarpaulins since 2022 and report that it has worked very well in the fish treatment process. The images below show the 70 m dark grey treatment tarpaulin within the pen, with a grey inflatable top edge for extra control and safety. The reason Ocean Farm chose to the use the Cunningham Water Treatment Tarpaulins is due to a number of reasons.

The tarpaulin is fully submerged within the pen and suspended from the cage until needed for freshwater fish treatment. With the added flotation top it adds extra control and safety when in use, this would be an optional extra for any fish farms but certainly one worth considering. Ocean Farm have the tarp suspended within the pen so they can treat fish at any time, without the need for fitting materials every time the treatment process is scheduled. The adverse weather conditions where it is located proves difficult to treat, but since using the Cunninghams tarpaulin, Ocean Farm have streamlined its treatment process and increased time efficiency by having the option to treat at any time of the day an in any condition. The timely threat of Amoebic Gill Disease (AGD) is a concern, and so a sustainable and effective method was the reason for needing a ‘Treatment on Demand’ solution—which Cunningham provided.
