ECO Magazine to Publish Special Edition on Polar Research
ECO Magazine (Environment, Coastal & Offshore), today announced details of an exclusive digital special issue dedicated to Polar research, to be published in partnership with the Arctic Circle Assembly. The Polar Special Issue is part of a unique series of digital editions in 2020 designed to offer the global research community a multimedia platform to celebrate scientific progress and identify opportunities for collaboration.
Available in September 2020, this digital edition will highlight the latest international research, groundbreaking expeditions, and report on the challenges and opportunities for science, industry and local communities in the face of climate change.
The Polar Special Issue will be promoted at the Arctic Circle Assembly, which is due to take place this October in Iceland. The Arctic Circle Assembly is the largest annual international gathering on Arctic affairs, with over 2000 participants from more than 60 countries. It is attended by heads of states and governments, ministers, members of parliaments, officials, experts, scientists, entrepreneurs, business leaders, indigenous representatives, environmentalists, students, activists and others from the growing international community interested in the future of the Arctic.
In addition to the annual Assemblies in Reykjavík, the Arctic Circle also convenes specialized Forums in other countries. Such Arctic Circle Forums have been in Shanghai, Washington D.C., Singapore, Edinburgh, Seoul, Québec, Alaska, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. The next Arctic Circle Forums will be held in Berlin, Tokyo and Abu Dhabi.

ECO Magazine’s other Special Issues in 2020 include Corals, produced in partnership with the International Coral Reef Symposium 2021, and Deep Sea, produced in partnership with Schmidt Ocean Institute and the UK’s National Oceanography Centre. These special editions will help shed a light on international research, increase awareness of key issues, identify present knowledge gaps, and ultimately enable cross-sector collaboration.
