The Business Network for Offshore Wind (“the Network”) is hosting its fourth annual International Offshore Wind Partnering Forum (IPF) on April 19-21 at The Westin Annapolis. The IPF is the #1 technical conference in the United States dedicated to moving the offshore wind industry forward.
This year’s conference will feature presentations from global leaders such as DONG Energy, Vattenfall and wpd; major developers such as Deepwater Wind, US Wind and Vineyard Wind; and more. More than 450 attendees are expected at the IPF. Registration is now open.
This year’s three-day conference boasts 79 technical presentations, six one-on-one business development meetings and an exclusive tour of the Tradepoint Atlantic shipyard, a 3,100-acre multimodal industrial site in Baltimore, Md., that features a unique combination of access to deep-water berths, railroads and highways. Some of the most anticipated presentations include:
- “U.S. Offshore Wind and Importance of the Supply Chain: A Developer’s Perspective” – presented by Thomas Brostrom of DONG Energy
- “Reaching 5.5¢ Kwh—Insights to Shattering Europe’s 2020 Goal” – a panel of industry leaders Gunner Groebler of Vattenfall, Achim Berge Olsen of wpd and Thomas Brostrom
- “The Great American Port Challenge” – a panel of the world’s leading port experts
Other workshops will cover critical industry topics including the importance of establishing a domestic supply chain in the U.S., technologies to address navigational and radar concerns, understanding and mitigating environmental risks, lessons learned from the European offshore wind industry, and more.
Liz Burdock, executive director of the Network, says that the global speakers will bring immense value to the conference and the U.S. offshore wind industry at large. “Europe has been a leader in offshore wind for decades now. They’ve not only successfully funded and developed a clean energy industry; they’ve also been able to drastically reduce costs. In order for us to effectively bring offshore wind to the U.S., we need to collaborate with European leaders, tap into their best practices and shorten our learning curve. We are both honored and excited to have so many global experts coming to the IPF to share their insights and help us develop a thriving offshore wind industry here in the states.”
Attending the IPF gives businesses the opportunity to network with the industry’s leading experts, generate new business opportunities, strengthen the U.S. offshore wind supply chain and directly shape the industry. Attendees also have the opportunity to set up WindMatch sessions: one-on-one meetings with synergistic businesses in order to begin developing a domestic supply chain.
Burdock added, “The commitment to funding and developing clean energy has never been as strong as it is today. And we see that commitment reflected in the industry leaders, attendees and sponsors who are coming to the IPF to build strategic business relationships and move the offshore wind industry forward.”
