Integrated System Unlocks Fisheries Data

GCR’s new Integrated Data Management, Reporting and Mapping system – Fisheries IDMRM – provides fisheries management agencies with the tools to facilitate data mining, analytics, and reporting activities as it relates to the management of their fisheries.

Fisheries managers are able to filter and aggregate data and perform analysis to generate intelligent maps and reports based on both political and ecological jurisdictions. These outputs are also filtered by time, allowing the user to see both real time data and historical trends. This functionality assists in ensuring that an agency possesses the most up to date and verifiable information on the health, status, and production of its fisheries to make sound, informed management decisions. It also enables managers to respond and report on constituents’ inquiries, specific to their geography.

Utilizing ESRI ArcGIS, Microsoft SQL server and Adobe/Apache Flex technology, the Fisheries
IDMRM system can track and report:
• Commercial harvest and “Trip Ticket” sales information
• Licensing trends
• Sample testing results

Rolled out in January 2014, the Fisheries IDMRM tracks patterns in location of harvest, first point of sale (the dock transaction), pricing, poundage, and license figures that help quantify the health, production, and size of the fishery and industry. It also assists in the timely evaluation of sampling results to help determine commercial seasons.

The system functions as a secure, web-based scalable solution that can be accessed on any personal computer or tablet through a Login and Password security page. For more information, click here.
