Job Announcement: Environmental Manager - Shell

The Environmental Manager is responsible for environmental leadership, strategy, and compliance assurance for the Deer Park site.

The Environmental Manager leads a team responsible for identifying environmental requirements, and working collaboratively with agencies, trade associations, and all levels of personnel within the Deer Park site. The Environmental Manager’s primary responsibilities are to ensure compliance management systems are established and implemented to meet applicable environmental and company regulatory requirements. The Environmental Manager assists with setting overall environmental direction for the Deer Park Site. In addition, the position is expected to model the Deer Park leadership journey, full supporting its themes and developing Environmental leaders to those same standards. This position also interacts with operations/technical managers and staff on environmental compliance issues and is proactively involved in issues with high business unit visibility and/or media scrutiny.

Manages a team of four environmental supervisors (Compliance, Change, Water/Waste, Fugitive Emissions) and one administrative assistant. Accountable for 26 total of staff and 15 contractors. The annual budget is $9 million dollars. This role works with all levels of the organization within the Deer Park site, plus interfaces with above site as well as regulatory agencies. This role signs regulatory documents including certifications.

This position will work within a very active regulatory environment with a demanding project and turnaround environment. Maintaining healthy and effective work processes is a priority as staff and regulatory changes occur. Managing staff work loads to insure that all compliance related matters are handled within regulatory deadlines is a priority. Workloads are subject to being impacted by factors such as site abnormal situations, agency inspections, and new regulatory requirements. This is a large site and stakeholder management can be a challenge.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, environmental, physical sciences or closely related technical field.
• Minimum fifteen (15) years regulatory experience.
• Minimum five (5) years experience in a management role.
• Proven experience in environmental management and/or previous supervisory experience of technical staff.
• Risk Management experience Frameworks, Incident Investigation and Reporting.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic thinking and drive for continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated experience creating a vision for a team or department.
