September Conference Focuses on Shallow Water Surveys

The 7th International Conference on High Resolution Surveys in Shallow Water promotes progress in seabed mapping in the coastal environment.

The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency will host "Shallow Survey 2015" and a number of associated events in Plymouth, Devon, United Kingdom, from 14-18 September 2015, in conjunction with Plymouth University, who as Principal Sponsors have offered their world class facilities as the conference and exhibition venue.

The theme of the conference, 'High Resolution Surveys in Shallow Water' will be explored using a "Common Data Set". The Common Data Set is a series of different surveys obtained by a range of equipment types and models over the same area of seabed. In this instance, the Common Data Set was collected within the superb natural harbor of Plymouth Sound during the summer of 2014. Production and dissemination of the Common Data Set will allow the delegates to analyze and compare the results from different survey equipment before submitting papers for the conference.

Shallow Survey is the international conference for experts in high resolution surveys in shallow water (less than 200 meters in depth). Established in Sydney, Australia in 1999 and held since in New Hampshire, USA in 2001 and again in Sydney in 2003, Plymouth, UK in 2005, New Hampshire in 2008, New Zealand in 2012 and returns to Plymouth in 2015.
