AECO is Hiring a Field Operations Manager

The Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators (AECO) is an international association for Arctic expedition cruise operators and associated industries. AECO’s main objectives are to ensure environmentally friendly, safe and considerate tourism in the Arctic, and to advocate for the interests of our members. Our 75 international members operate more than 50 vessels in the Arctic. AECO’s secretariat will shortly be nine employees, and our head office is in Tromsø, Norway.

In line with the growing Arctic expedition cruise industry, AECO is developing and looking to expand our Secretariat. To help us manage and carry out our tasks, we are hiring a Field Operations Manager.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, diplomatic and collaborative colleague.

Our field operations manager will have responsibilities and tasks connected with a range of AECO’s operational tools, including the AECO Cruise Database, Field Staff Online Assessment, Off-Vessel Risk Assessment Tool, Observer Scheme, incident reporting, membership applications, member service and general inquiries, and other relevant tasks. The position may also involve project management, representation and presentations.

This position requires relevant higher education and in-depth knowledge of polar expedition cruise operations. The ideal candidate has long experience from working as field staff, also on an expedition leader level, and preferably experience from administration of field operations. The candidate has good knowledge about AECO and our tools, guidelines and other measures and should demonstrate a good understanding of AECO’s objectives and work. Being proficient in use of software, applications and relevant web-based tools is essential. The ideal candidate also has experience in project management.

The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills (fluent/native English) and preferable fluency in one of the Scandinavian languages, as well as excellent cooperation skills.

We are looking for a person that also is structured, efficient and possess excellent organizational and planning skills, has the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with minimal supervision and is self-motivated with superior time management skills.
