Job Opportunity: Graduate Marine Planner with the Orkney Islands Council

Orkney Islands Council is commencing the development of the Orkney Marine Planning Partnership and the preparation of an Orkney Regional Marine Plan.

Marine Planning Partnerships are established to represent the economic, community, environmental and recreational interests within a marine region, enabling local ownership of marine planning policy, taking account of local circumstances. This plan will contain statutory local policies and spatial information to guide marine consenting and management decisions in Orkney.

They are looking for a graduate, or early career stage professional, with a relevant degree level qualification and knowledge of marine planning and marine resource management.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a sound understanding of the issues affecting sustainable development and the management of the marine environment in the Orkney context. Working knowledge of Geographical Information System (GIS) packages is also required.
