Goshen College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Marine Biology to begin July 1, 2022 with a specialization in marine biology.
Primary teaching responsibilities will support our major in Environmental and Marine Science. Teaching load could include Marine Biology, Marine Ecology, Invertebrate Zoology, and/or Oceanography, in addition to courses in the candidate’s area of speciality. The majority of teaching takes place at the college’s J.N. Roth Marine Biology station (located in the Florida Keys) as part of the college’s Marine Biology Semester. During this fall semester, students complete two field courses and an internship. Serving as the Director of the J.N. Roth station, the successful candidate will recruit students and develop field-based research projects suitable for the department’s required senior thesis program. Teaching may include general education courses in the GC Core or other ecology courses.
We seek colleagues with exceptional teaching skills and a commitment to mentoring students via an undergraduate research program. Our Environmental & Marine Science alumni consistently gain admittance into Ph.D. and graduate programs in ecology and marine biology. Goshen College ranks second in Indiana in the percent of alumni - per capita - who go on to earn a Ph.D. In addition to the marine biology station in the Florida Keys, campus facilities include excellent on-campus laboratories for teaching and research and a 1,189 acre field station (Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center) 30 miles from campus. Goshen College faculty are also eligible to apply to teach in our nationally ranked study abroad program, which includes semesters in Ecuador, Tanzania, China, Indonesia, and Senegal.
