Ocean Career: Maine Marine Resources Aquaculture Program & Outreach Coordinator

The Aquaculture Program and Outreach Coordinator provides a variety of operational support to the Aquaculture Division including assisting with policy development, evaluating, and streamlining operational practices, helping to ensure programs are administered in accordance with applicable laws, and implementing approved outreach initiatives. The position manages the Aquaculture Division’s response to FOAA and data requests.

This position may also be assigned to help work on initiatives having a statewide impact on aquaculture. This position may represent the Department on policy matters in adjudicatory and regulatory hearings and other matters as assigned. This position will regularly work with a variety of stakeholder groups, including municipalities, researchers, educators, development specialists, and non-profits on initiatives related to Aquaculture Division programs including animal health, aquaculture licensing (LPAs and LBAs), leasing, compliance, and inspection. All work is performed under the direction of the Division Director.

This is a supervisory position responsible for coaching and evaluating the performance of at least one administrative support professional. Successful candidates must demonstrate knowledge of aquaculture policy, knowledge of the adjudicatory process; demonstrated experience of teamwork in a large organization; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to effectively interact with a wide range of stakeholders in casual and formal professional settings; and the ability to develop, implement, and evaluate work plans.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelors Degree in marine sciences or related field, marine or environmental policy, or the equivalent in directly related work experience.
