The partnership comprises of NGOs, local authorities and statutory agencies as well as land managers. Its aim is to collectively facilitate positive management and restoration of peatland habitats across Northumberland, excluding the area already covered through the work of the North Pennines AONB (south of the A69). The partnership, through NWT as the lead applicant, has been successful in obtaining funding from Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the DEFRA Nature for Climate Peatland Discovery Grant.

The Peatland Survey Assistants will help with peatland survey as part of the Discovery Grant, supporting the Peatland Survey Officers in the assessment of peatland sites.
