Opportunity: Coordinator of International Ocean Ridge Studies

InterRidge is recruiting its coordinator for the next 2 years. The InterRidge office has recently relocated from Beijing to Paris and the post will be hosted at the CNRS/Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris.

InterRidge promotes interdisciplinary, international studies of oceanic spreading centers by creating a global research community, planning and coordinating new science programs that no single nation can achieve alone, exchanging scientific information, and sharing new technologies and facilities. InterRidge is dedicated to reaching out to the public, scientists and governments, and to providing a unified voice for ocean ridge researchers worldwide.

Under the supervision of the program co-chairs, the coordinator exchanges with the steering committee members, national representatives, working group leaders, and more generally with all interested scientists. He/she updates the web site, prepares and sends the bi-monthly electronic newsletters, edits and publishes the annual InterRidge News, participates in the organization of workshops and manages the annual call for InterRidge fellowships and cruise bursaries. He/she interacts with accountants in the daily management of the InterRidge budget and expenditures.

Good communication skills and English fluency are required. Some basic knowledge in Drupal web software would be appreciated. Ideally, the applicant should be a young researcher in ridge-related sciences. He/she may be able to combine the job with part-time scientific activity. The salary depends on experience but would be on the level of a Post-doctoral fellow (about 2300 €/month in the French system, including benefits). Applications will be considered upon reception until the position is filled. Ideally the position should be filled by April 2017.
