Opportunity: Dive Certification Scholarships from Beneath the Sea

Are you between the ages of 16 and 24 years of age and interested in learning to scuba dive? To encourage individuals between the ages of 16 and 24 to obtain their open water scuba certification, the SECONN Dive Club will award $500 each to two individuals to obtain their open water certification.

Applicants must submit an essay (maximum of one page) on why they would like to become scuba certified. Applicants should email their essay to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by 28 February 2017.

The open water scuba training will be conducted at one of their member scuba shops in Connecticut. These shops include Aquasports, Divers Cove, Enfield Scuba, Fintastic, New England Dive Center, Scuba Shack, and Seaview Scuba.

Recipients of these scholarships will be invited to attend the Beneath The Sea Marine Careers Program - a one day educational program recognized internationally as a source of education about the ocean environment. The Marine Careers Program will be held on Friday, March 24 at the Meadowlands Holiday Inn, Secaucus, New Jersey from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Certificate of Attendance will be available.
