The MacArtney Group has announced the signing of a representative agreement with Okeanus Ltda. to function as the official representative of MacArtney underwater technology products on the Brazilian market. Following similar deals signed with companies Cledirsa (Uruguay) and Alakaluf (Chile), the agreement with Okeanus marks the third South American strengthening of the global MacArtney representative network within the scope of just six months.

Satlantic, a Sea-Bird Scientific company, has recently announced the launch of new and improved versions of their popular family of PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) sensors. Among the major improvements with the serial (digital) version are a more powerful controller capable of sampling at speeds of up to 100 Hz, integrated temperature and tilt sensors to support post deployment QA/QC analyses, and user programmable analog voltage signal output (with selectable ranges on either linear or logarithmic scales). All these new features are packaged into smaller and lighter form factors for easier mounting on crowded sensor packages. The new PAR sensor is now available in two versions optimized for the main field applications: a shallow Acetron plastic sensor for profiles to 1000 m depth; a deep titanium version for profiles to 7000 m.

Unique System LLC (USA) has announced a new effort as a stocking distributor of JCM Loadcells. In addition to launching a distributorship with JCM, another primary focus for diving is highlighting efforts to manufacture equipment that caters to statutory and IMCA compliance, including the Man Riding Winch which complies with all of the IMCA requirements for launch and recovery systems.

The Marisa N vessel has been successfully accepted into stand-by service. The oil tanker contracted by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) from the consortium RTI Castalia-Giuliana Bunkeraggi performs bunkering operations in the vicinity of Trieste, Italy and has a oil recovery capacity of 1,562 m3. The pollution response equipment comprising two sweeping arms, two 250 m single point inflation booms, a brush skimmer, high capacity skimmer and oil slick detection radar will be permanently installed on board.

N-Sea, the Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) specialist, has launched its third diving support vessel. The Edradour represents a £1.5 million investment for the company and will be immediately utilized in its industry-leading IMR operations in the North Sea, as well as in Holland and Germany.

The MacArtney Underwater Technology Group has opened its fifth dedicated business unit in North America. Located in Jupiter, Florida, just north of West Palm Beach, the new MacArtney ‘Southeast Operations’ will cover a six-state area including Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Headed by General Manager, Lou Dennis, the new operations will supply cutting edge underwater technology products and solutions to clients and operators within the region.

Okeanus Science and Technology, LLC (Okeanus) is pleased to announce the addition of three types of DT Marine winches to its fleet of oceanographic and marine scientific rental equipment. The winches can be outfitted with various types of cable and synthetic rope to perform nearly any job requiring the launch and recovery of subsea equipment and assets.
