BSEE Responds to Damaged Unmanned Platform in the Gulf of Mexico

The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement has announced its response to a damaged unmanned platform located in 50 feet of water about 5 miles south of Port Fourchon, LA. The company reported to BSEE that the platform might have been damaged by a vessel. While a fire that broke out at the time of the incident was successfully extinguished and no injuries were reported, gas bubbles were reportedly rising to the surface intermittently. Three wells producing oil at the time were successfully shut down. The incident will be investigated by both BSEE and the U.S. Coast Guard.
