New Chair Appointed for the East of England's Marine Science and Technology Sector Council

The East of England’s Marine Science and Technology Sector Council announces a change in leadership.

After an impressive six-year term, culminating in a hugely successfully event hosted by the MST sector council earlier this year, the group’s Chair, Phil Durrant, is stepping down.

With 30 years’ experience in the marine sector, now presiding over MarineSpace as Managing Director, Phil’s valuable experience and knowledge of the industry combined with his natural leadership skills has contributed to the continued growth and advancement of the MST Sector Council.

Reflecting on his role as Chair, Phil was keen to express how much he had enjoyed his time leading the group:

“It’s been a pleasure and an honor to have held the role of chairman of the Marine Science & Technology Sector Council for the past 6 years. I would like to say thank you to all of those at EEEGR and the members of this group who have helped us navigate through some challenging times to reach the point where this group now has a very bright future and is already delivering a lot for all those involved in marine science in this region.

In Jenni I am confident we have a strong chairperson for the future who will take the Council to the next level, and I look forward to continuing to support this vital industry forum which is so important in providing a voice for the marine science center of excellence we have in this part of the world.”

Stepping into the role with an impressive track record is Jennifer Nicholls, who brings a wealth of experience to the council: she has worked in the energy industry since 1998 in a variety of roles, from a graduate seismic data processor, to running her own consultancy. She now works for EPI Group as their Marketing & Sustainability Manager:

“It is a privilege for me to be taking over as chair from Phil after his hugely successful six-year tenure, I’d like to thank him for leaving me with such a successful team to be part of. There are some fantastic plans in place for future of the MST Sector a council, and I look forward to getting stuck in come September.”

With Jenni previously sitting on the steering committee, this transition reflects the council’s dedication to ensuring a seamless progression in its leadership and continuing its mission in providing a full representation of the services contributing to the industry in the East of England.

The MST Sector Council expresses its gratitude to Phil for his outstanding commitment and dedication as Chair and is delighted to welcome Jenni as their new lead.
