Fugro's Net-Zero Target Validated by Science Based Targets Initiative

Fugro’s near- and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Fugro’s net-zero target spans all three emission scopes, ultimately striving to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the value chain by 2050. This validation demonstrates Fugro’s commitment to decarbonization in line with its purpose to create a safe and liveable world.

Fugro’s science-based targets include, amongst others, an absolute near-term reduction target for scope 1 and 2 of 55% by 2033 compared to 2022, and an engagement commitment to ensure that 60% of our suppliers by spend will set SBTs targets by 2028.

Mark Heine, Fugro’s CEO, said: "This validation by the Science Based Targets initiative underscores Fugro's strong dedication to its purpose to create a safe and liveable world. We firmly believe that aligning our decarbonization efforts with the 1.5°C global warming limit is essential for a sustainable future. Fugro’s science-based targets help us to further action our roadmap to net-zero and underpin our decarbonization efforts in Fugro’s own operations as well as in our supply chain.”

Fugro remains dedicated to its roadmap, introduced in 2020, to achieve net-zero carbon emission operations by 2035 for scope 1 and 2. Concrete examples are the ongoing roll-out of Fugro’s uncrewed vessel fleet, and the conversion of its vessel, Fugro Pioneer, to green methanol.
