Marine Leak Detection Kit Key to Preventive Maintenance

Left undetected, leaks can cause disruptive equipment breakdowns and environmental pollution. Spectroline’s OPK-400M Marine Leak Detection Kit is the cost effective way to implement a preventive maintenance plan because it’s designed to easily and efficiently locate fuel, oil and hydraulic leaks in small to medium sized watercraft.

The work horse of the OPK-400M kit is the OPTIMAX 400 violet light leak detection flashlight—a high-intensity LED compact lamp that gets into cramped areas that are inaccessible to larger lamps. But just because its small and lightweight doesn’t mean its beam is. The OPTIMAX 400 has an inspection range of 25 feet (7.6 m) or more.

Packaged with two distinctly colored fluorescent dyes, it differentiates between multiple leaking fluid systems. The 1 oz. (30 ml) bottle of OIL-GLO® 44 and a 1 oz. (30 ml) bottle of OIL-GLO® 50 fluorescent oil dyes are compatible with petroleum and synthetic-based fluid systems. Each treat up to 8 gallons (30.3 L) of fluid. When a leaking system is scanned with the OPTIMAX 400, OIL-GLO 44 will glow a bright yellow/green, while OIL-GLO 50 will fluoresce vivid red.

Finding leaks is a simple, hassle-free procedure. Simply add the fluorescent dye to the fluid system and let it circulate. Scan the system with a Spectroline® leak detection flashlight to pinpoint even the most elusive leaks.

Also included in the kit is an 8 oz. (237 ml) spray bottle of GLO-AWAY™ dye cleaner, dye treatment tags and fluorescence-enhancing glasses. Everything come packed in a convenient and durable carrying case for easy storage and retrieval.

The best thing about Spectroline dyes is that there is no need to waste time or money flushing them away. Because they can safely stay in the system, Spectroline dyes become the most cost-effective method for finding future leaks too.
