New Contracts Secure Growth For Dräger Safety UK In Energy And Marine

Dräger Safety UK has secured new contracts worth in excess of £3 million after successfully diversifying into new technology and training service areas focused on upstream and downstream operations in the North Sea.

The market-leading marine and offshore safety equipment supplier, which has supported operations in the UKCS from its base in Aberdeen since 2011, has boosted its North Sea presence by winning several high-profile contract awards from operators and oilfield service providers in late 2017, and early this year.

Alex Duthie, Dräger Safety UK’s sales and marketing director, said: “There are real signs that the upturn the industry has been anticipating is materializing, with investment in training and new technology coming forward across the basin.”

“Securing substantial increases in training revenue in the second half of 2017, through a flexible approach in support of client operations, was possible through our ability to deliver essential safety training onshore at our fully-equipped Aberdeen training center, at client premises or on-location offshore.”

Drager 1Renowned for its life-saving fixed and wireless gas detection technologies; and personal protection equipment, the company has developed a new portable, networked gas detection and alarm system designed to protect people working in any location offshore.

And the company has delivered a step-change in training for rescue teams through its OPITO-certified assessment center in Aberdeen, which includes a confined-space skills evaluation area which candidates must learn to negotiate in full rescue gear, including oxygen tanks and air masks.

Duthie adds, “Key to that success has been the investment we made in our training offering, including the confined-space facility at our base in Bridge of Don, which gives workers the opportunity to experience the kind of difficult conditions they may be faced with on an offshore platform or in a land-based refinery. We increased our rental portfolio to enable us to provide support for a diverse range of operations, locally and internationally, providing equipment and, if needed, the support of our highly-trained personnel for on- and offshore projects.”

“There are significant growth opportunities for Dräger Safety across the UK and further afield. By working closely with our clients and partners, we will continue to develop new, and evolve our existing, market-leading technologies to support industries’ commitment to achieving continuous improvement in safety.”
