Role

The Composite Team is looking for a Composite Design Engineer to support their continuous effort to build efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible composite structures. The role will require working closely with the mechanical design and composite manufacturing teams, as well as with other cross-functional disciplines such as Integration and Testing, System and Analysis, and Supply Chain.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop of composite structures
  • Produce engineering calculations (pre-FEA and verification)
  • Prepare FEA models from Creo CAD files (managed in WindChill PLM)
  • Perform composite structural analysis (strength, fatigue, modal) in ANSYS Mechanical.
  • Prepare reports and presentation materials for internal, external, and certification purposes.
  • Define and support best practices for how FEA can be used effectively in the development process.
  • Investigate new solutions to improve processes, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Manage tasks to meet performance, schedule, and budget targets.
  • Support procurement activities, including component and supplier selection, manufacturing, and factory acceptance testing of modules.
  • Support pilot installations in the field.

Skills and Qualifications

You have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in working with steady-state analysis of composite FEA structures is essential (ideally in ANSYS; filament winding experience is advantageous). You have a good understanding of composite design standards and practical experience in the manufacturing of composite structures, especially filament winding and VARI processes, is a plus. Experience in certification of products through bodies such as DNV is valued. We value strong communication skills and the ability to work in a small, agile team. You are highly proficient in English.
