Candidate will work on developing sample mounting protocols and imaging samples related to new research organism initiatives on home-built dual-view line-scan confocal and light sheet microscopes, as well as some commercial systems at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL). Candidate will also learn and help with developing an image analysis pipeline tailored for new research organisms.

The incumbent participates in multi-lab collaborative efforts and has knowledge of advanced light microscopy and sample preparation for imaging. Candidate will have space in both the Patel lab and Kumar lab to carry out their work.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Under the general supervision of Dr. Kumar and in consultation with Dr. Patel, individual will assist with:

  1. Sample preparation for imaging, especially related to the new research organism initiative at the MBL.
  2. Help with imaging samples on home built dual-view line-scan confocal and lightsheet microscopes, as well as some high-end commercial systems.
  3. Processing data acquired on microscopes using in house custom and commercial software
  4. Develop an image analysis pipeline tailored for the new research organism initiative.
  5. Co-ordinate maintenance of, and image samples related to, MBL’s new research organisms provided by collaborators.
  6. Document details of the data collection and protocols
