Duties

As a Policy Analyst, you will perform the following duties:

  • Develop and evaluate strategies for short and long- term planning of agency National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Corps policy formulation and evaluation in association with organizational decision makers. Lead strategic implementation of projects of interest to NOAA and NOAA Corps that span across programs, regions and initiatives.
  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert on legislative, regulatory, and policy issues relevant to uniformed services, specifically the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Commissioned Officer Corps.
  • Oversee and develop policy responses, briefing documents, review of letters, and provide technical document drafting assistance. Provide recommendations for actions and other materials for management and leadership actions.
  • Ensure timely and regular reporting of issues and challenges to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) or Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) leadership. Identify potential controversial policy and regulatory issues and develop recommendations for action.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.

Salary: $82,764 - $181,216 per year
