Ocean Career: NOAA Research Oceanographer

This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), Atlantic Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratory with two vacancies in Miami, FL.

Duties

As a Research Oceanographer, you will perform the following duties:

  • Develop, produce and lead the delivery of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)-oriented products to communicate analyzed oceanographic data. Develop models to provide written and oral assessment, forecast, predictive, and projection information on ocean water properties and phenomena to technical and non- technical audiences.
  • Coordinate research studies and developmental projects designed to capitalize on or incorporate the benefits of current or new science and technology and apply new data collection and analysis techniques and experience to solve complex NOAA-oriented operational challenges. Ensure accuracy of information by conducting reviews and tests of information.
  • Review project/program milestones and budgets from planning through design, operation and implementation; coordinate project/program operations and schedules workforce activities; and communicate to supervisor and leadership of progress and achievements. Provide an authoritative source of technical guidance to a team of science and science support personnel and associates to accomplish projects.

Conditions of Employment

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: This position requires applicants to meet one of the Basic Education Requirements in addition to at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience in order to be found minimally qualified. Transcripts must be submitted with your application package.

Salary: $77,274 - $169,195 per year
