Ocean Career: Sulmara Head of Commercial

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and take ownership of the commercial process and tools, driving continuous improvements for enhanced business efficiency
  • Ensure regional commercial teams strictly follow prescribed processes, collaborating with support functions to mitigate risks and uphold compliance with golden rules
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors to implement targets aligning with strategic objectives set in the annual budget
  • Provide support to regional teams in formulating effective bid strategies
  • Oversee the quality and timely delivery of both technical and commercial proposals
  • Ensure completion of contractual negotiations in an orderly manner and ahead of operational timelines
  • Ensure commercial activities account for scheduling constraints, collaborating closely with the operations function
  • Enforce comprehensive commercial handovers and conduct post-bid follow-ups with clients, incorporating lessons learned
  • Lead, develop, and retain high-performing members of the commercial team
  • Provide necessary support to regional commercial teams through clarification meetings with clients when required
  • Actively participate in and support company initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
  • Generate and present reports for internal and external approval purposes
  • Travel as required to company offices, client meetings, exhibitions, networking events, and management meetings.

Skills Requirements

  • Strong contractual and negotiation experience
  • Strong appreciation for business risk and how to mitigate
  • Strong analytical thinker and process-driven individual
  • Eye for detail and order and enjoy being part of an international team, globally deployed
  • Ability to cope with strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken), other languages will be a plus
  • Self-motivated, pro-active approach

Experience and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in engineering discipline, or other relevant industry experience, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in a senior commercial role with direct reports
  • Extensive experience in bidding for projects with comparable risk profiles, including G&G services, vessel charters, and coordination with numerous subcontractors
  • Comprehensive practical experience related to the offshore environment
