Ocean Career: WHOI Physical Oceanography Postdoctoral Investigator

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) is currently searching for a Postdoctoral Investigator to join the Physical Oceanography Department. This is a temporary, full-time exempt position, and is eligible for benefits.

The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of a one-year extension.

This postdoctoral investigator position will focus on analysis of observations collected by autonomous underwater gliders operating in the Gulf Stream. The research will support the ONR New England Seamount Acoustics (NESMA) program as well as other projects related to long-term, autonomous observing of the Gulf Stream.

The institution has a top-rated postdoctoral program (www.whoi.edu/postdoctoral/) that supports a dynamic postdoctoral community with formal mentoring and career guidance programs. While the primary focus of the work will be in research, the Postdoctoral Investigator will have the opportunity to participate in educational and outreach activities associated with the project.

Essential Functions

  • Analysis of underwater glider observations
  • Participation in glider-focused field work
  • Publication and presentation of research results

Education & Experience

  • PhD in related field
