Ocean Career: WHOI Research Assistant

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is currently searching for a Research Assistant to join the Department of Geology and Geophysics. This is a regular, full time, non-exempt position, and is eligible for benefits.

This position will involve processing and modeling of a variety of marine and terrestrial electromagnetic data including controlled source electromagnetic (CSEM) and magnetotelluric (MT) data sets. Some experience with one or both types of data is preferred, although training will be given as appropriate. The Research Assistant will work with other members of the EM research group in producing interpretable models of the data.

As a Research Assistant, the incumbent works with some supervision, employs established laboratory procedures, standard equipment, and fundamental concepts to conduct research tasks determined by field of study and scope of individual research project. The internal working title for this position will be Research Assistant I or Research Assistant II; the final level of the position will be determined commensurate with the selected candidate's level of education and experience.

This will be a term appointment through to the end of August 2024. Start date as soon as possible. Remote work is possible with at least occasional presence at WHOI required.

Education

Research Assistant I: Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree in related field plus one year related experience, or High School diploma or equivalent plus three years' related experience.

Research Assistant II: Bachelor's degree in a related geoscience, or Bachelor's degree in non-related field plus two years' related experience, or Associate's degree in related field plus three years' related experience, or High School diploma or equivalent plus five years' related experience
