The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project, a pioneering initiative to inspire the complete map of the entire ocean floor, is proud to announce the launch of its dynamic new website following a comprehensive rebranding exercise.
This significant milestone reinforces Seabed 2030's commitment to advancing scientific understanding of the Earth's seafloor and promoting international collaboration towards a complete map of the seabed. The launch comes just a month after HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco announced that an additional 5.4 million square kilometers of new data—equating to an area twice the size of Argentina—has been added to the definitive map of the world’s ocean floor, with 24.9 percent of the seabed now mapped.
The redesigned Seabed 2030 website—accessible at www.seabed2030.org—offers an engaging and informative platform for researchers, industry, governments, and supporters from around the world to explore the latest developments in seafloor mapping and contribute to this vital initiative.

A collaborative project between The Nippon Foundation and the General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO), Seabed 2030 seeks to inspire the complete mapping of the world’s ocean by 2030, and to compile all the data into the freely available GEBCO Ocean Map. Seabed 2030 is formally endorsed as a Decade Action of the UN Ocean Decade. GEBCO is a joint program of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), and is the only organization with a mandate to map the entire ocean floor.
The website enables users to access information on research opportunities, ongoing projects and partnerships, facilitating international cooperation and knowledge sharing.
In addition to the website launch Seabed 2030 is excited to unveil its refreshed visual identity, including a new logo and color scheme.
